Fatal Rebecca: The Victim and the Villain?

Here we are again. Back with a new theory. Theories are fun. Especially when Emmerdale feels so miserable right now.  So, after today’s episode (June 5, 2017) a new theory has arisen. For awhile now Justine (@BeauitifulHusbands on Tumblr) and I have been talking about Rebecca. Who doesn’t? She has taken over the conversation. She is a thorn in our sides (if you are a fan…turn back now. This theory is not for you).

So, Justine and I tried to see the story from Rebecca’s side. Even with the limited information we have, we tried to see her side.  It was tough to do, but ultimately it lead us to this conclusion.  No way is she the victim. Not after the scene in with Robert outside the courthouse on November 29, 2016.

Before that moment, you could argue that Robert was stringing her along. He was keeping her sweet, playing his old tricks and acting like the Robert she remembers to keep her around.  It didn’t last for long. Why?  He couldn’t keep the secret from Aaron of him kissing her for long. Robert had to admit that being with Aaron, being in love with Aaron has made him a better person. Yes, he still screws up and falls into bad habits but he wants to change, and he wants to be better because of Aaron. He wants to be a better man.

So, in that scene on November 29, 2016, these two lines are uttered:

Rebecca: So, you and me? Are we over?

Robert: We never even started.

Robert walks away from her and his old life and towards Aaron and his new life being with him.  That might be the turning point from Rebecca being used to Rebecca being spurned. Spurned and wanting that Robert she ‘loves’ back. Fatal attraction style.  She would make everyone Robert loves in his life turn on him. So, who is left to comfort him? Rebecca of course!

She thought she had him in December when she walked up to Aaron and announced in front of everyone that she and Robert kissed. Little did she know that Robert told Aaron and they were ready for this. It looks like a dress rehearsal for the big one a few months later, doesn’t it? Only this time, Aaron and Robert were hit hard in that pub when Chrissie announced she is still pregnant.

Rebecca just needed something stronger than a kiss. Hence, the incident.

This is similar to my other theory where I think Rebecca is playing everyone. It is just more direct now. I see a reason behind her actions now.

Here is how we think she is doing it. Turning each person away from Robert.

The Players

  • Her Family

This is easy to get her family onto her side. They already hate Robert for other reasons. She knows her family would blame Robert instantly.  They would be mad, but they would have her back. Which is what happened.

  • Victoria

Their friendship is weird. I hate it. I freaked out about it. Mostly because it came out of nowhere. Why would Victoria be friends with a White family member after Chrissie set up Andy?  Plot. It is all plot or is it? Robert loves Victoria. She is his little baby sister. Victoria is also baby crazy. Rebecca knows that, and her “pregnancy” will kick in feelings in Victoria that aren’t rational. Rebecca makes friends with her, lives with her and confides in her, she might turn on Robert for Rebecca.

  • Liv/Chas

As I wrote before, she had a nice conversation with Liv about understanding what she is going through as a teenage girl. This makes Liv think that Rebecca is nice before she left.  Chas, on the other hand, is someone who never liked Rebecca and doesn’t trust her. In fact, she is the only one to put equal blame onto Rebecca for that fateful night.  Chas will always be Team Aaron, but I think she will turn on Rebecca before Robert.

  • Aaron

Aaron would be the final turn. She already started with that speech to Aaron as she grabbed her stomach. Aaron had to save himself. He has to run from Robert. He is no good for any of them. They should become friends. It was terrible to watch, and there was nothing I wanted more than Aaron to tell her off. Sadly, we never got an answer from him.  Aaron is so desperate to be ok and make everything ok that he will try and be nice to Rebecca. He will try and see her side because he too might get caught up in the ‘blame everything on Robert’ train.  If Rebecca could get Aaron to turn away from Robert, he would have officially lost everything.

If Rebecca could get Aaron to turn away from Robert, he would have officially lost everything. Who could he turn to since Robert is afraid of being alone? Right. Rebecca and the “baby.”

The outliers

Ross and Adam are still outliers in this story. I won’t write them off just yet. Not when Ross was screwing Rebecca the night before, and he seems to keep showing up in Robron and Vadam business. Adam is understanding towards Robert and connected to Victoria. He could play a big part later in the story. Against Rebecca and working with Robert. This is all speculation.

Rebecca thinks that if she could take apart Roberts life, brick by brick, she can have him back. She can get back the life she thought he would give her. If he doesn’t, she is the victim of his actions. If he does, she won against her sister (who got Robert the first time) and Aaron (the man who got the true Robert).

Again, total speculation but now I have some emotional backing or rational to Rebecca’s twists and turns in personality.  Now it makes a little more sense to me.

Super Soap Week Theory – The Feet in the Sand

Super Soap Week brought us lots of drama and intrigue that lead us to the death of James Barton.  With that death saw a few stories play out throughout the year.

Rhona and Pierce.

Laurel and Ashley

Robert and Aaron

Emma and James.

You would think that is it. Those were the people in play.

Did you forget Lachlan?

Lachlan who was tied up and locked in Aarons trunk got out alive. Then nothing. He went to jail. Right?

Not so fast. We have one more story left untold from Super Soap Week.

Lachlan and the Feet in the Sand

Justine (@BeauitfulHusbands come on over and say hi to her too!) had noticed something during a rewatch of the Super Soap Week festivities.  What Lachlan was doing once Robert jumped into the water to pull him out of the car boot.

Watch the scene here (should be cued up to the right spot but if it does not start there go ahead to 1:56)

This video got both of us thinking. Lachlan was not alone. He stood on a hill of sand with three other people.

Who are these people? Where did they go? Why did the camera decide to pan over their feet and only show Lachlan’s full body?  With all the crazy happening at the scene did they just walk away?

There was never an explanation of how he got out of that trunk. There was no explanation of who was standing next to him. All we have is this, and then his story disappears from the screen. Was that the plan? How does this fit into the Robron story?

While we cannot answer all those questions here is some speculation as to who the feet in the sand belong to.

Possible Owners of the Feet

Belle/Chrissie (we are a bit unsure about this too)

Rebecca (who wears lots of hippie looking clothes like the fringe above? Yeah.)

What does all this Information Mean?

Our guess, playing off the Super Soap Week and what we think of these characters, the people in the sand with Lachlan are the people who plan to get revenge. What kind of revenge?

Against Robert Sugden.

Rebecca wants nothing but to be accepted by her family. She screwed up with Lachlan and his jail sentence by aligning herself with Robert, but she can help him now, on the outside. So, the best revenge is to take away what Robert has built for himself. His little family.  Robert would completely lose everything and breakdown. Something Rebecca might want for him. Especially if she feels trampled.

Rebecca was the one to start first. After the big accident, she pushed herself harder into Aaron and Robert’s life. She is seen in the background of their scenes at the pub and even at The Mill.  She started having personal conversations with them. Acting like a friend to Aaron while throwing herself at Robert. Any reason to make Aaron feel insecure. She was hoping Robert would fall back into old habits.

Nothing worked until Robert got drunk and called her over. She saw her chance.  They make out, and Robert takes off his jacket but passes out. After he passes out, she pretends they slept together. Ready to use it against Robert. However, she found out she is pregnant. It is Ross’s but why not use it against him. In her eyes, Aaron would leave Robert if he found out about the baby.

She did not’ count on the two to come through and stay together. Now she is stuck with a kid that could easily be proven to be someone else’s. She runs.

Ross and Robert have a complicated history.  Ross shot Robert. He knows about Katie. Aaron and Ross don’t have a great relationship either. After he meets Rebecca and sleeps with her a few times, she might have opened to him. Upset about how much she felt Robert used her.  So, he helps her out with her plan in little ways. Anything to get back at Robert who he seems to not like. Also, he could get some much-needed money by blackmailing him.

Here is where we get stuck.  We aren’t sure who these feet are supposed to be.  We thought Chrissie, but she seems to be surprised by everything Rebecca throws at her.  I feel like she would know if Rebecca was going after Robert. Mostly because she would help.

Belle is a wild guess because out of nowhere she is now in Lachlan’s/Chrissie orbit.  Apparently, if our research is correct, Belle and Lachlan have been here before.  So, Belle might have helped with a few things; we aren’t sure. This is where things get a little tricky. We also think we might not know who that is supposed to be yet.

Even we don’t have all the pieces.

The feet in the sand confuse us. Without Justine asking me my thoughts about the feet in the sand we wouldn’t have this theory. How could we have forgotten Lachlan? He might be the missing key. This could all lead to Lachlan going serial killer and the Ross vs. Robert spoiler printed in  Soap Life magazine. It also walks back the cheating (Robert meant his vows comment from Iain) and walks back the baby while still having soapy revenge on the table.

Even if none of this matters, in the end, you have to wonder about the feet in the sand.

Can you add to it? Do you think we are all officially losing our minds? Tell us below or tweet me @AmanaJ718. Until the next theory grabs our fancy, keep watching to see if we are right.

Emmerdale Live and Organized – May 10, 2017

I’m behind but let’s see what the residents of Emmerdale are up to today.

I LOVE YOU. Never change. I made a threesome joke in my head too.

Rhona’s story is breaking my heart. She is hiding away the rape because she is afraid of feeling like a victim. I just, I want to give her a hug. Putting it on Paddy isn’t nice either, but he can take it until the truth comes out.  Let him be the fall guy.

I really like the idea of Rhona and Paddy again. Let Paddy be the one to guide her through this show. Please. That or Vanessa. She needs someone. She needs someone to help her. This isn’t going to end well.

Tomorrow is another day.

Chrissie having to deal with Lydia is so funny. Do we have a new comedic friendship on our hands? I’d be down for that. Oh, maybe give Chrissie a friend that will bring her down a few pegs. Give her advice about her psycho son.

Sam and Lydia are still adorable. LET IT HAPPEN SHOW.

Emma is being creepy again. I know she is mentally ill but come on people, no one is noticing something is gong on? I’d notice, then again, everyone is stuck in their own problems in their village. Much like life.

Vadam were overly sweet. You know what that means. It was just a kiss which makes it weirder that he is hiding it.  In my eyes, a kiss is nothing in soap land.

That line, “If he loved me he wouldn’t have done that.” That line hurts.  Mostly because I like them and I know Adam loves Victoria. It is just, ugh. That hurt more than I expected.

Adam. Adam. Adam.  Your mother isn’t to blame. Emma isn’t to blame. I don’t know if the reaction would have been the same if he told her sooner but it happened and now it’s time to deal with it.

I love how Moira figured out it was Emma quickly. That’s my girl.  Emma is the worst. Seriously, she is the worst.  Everyone in town will be suspect after she dies. Moira has to know why Emma is doing all of this.  Who will Emma mess with next? God help us all when she finds out about Cain and Harriet.

‘It’s Just Speculation!’ – Robron Edition (It is always about Robron)

Robron have their own house! Let us rejoice! They seriously have their own set, and that says a lot. I know they are giving us happy things because they are about to break our hearts into smithereens. One thing that seems to be confirmed (kind of) is that Robert is the one to tell him which is good. That is character development. 2015 Robert(TM) would have never done that. So, that is something.

Either way, the real fireworks for spoilers will start next week. Get ready. Oh and STAY OFF THE MESSAGE BOARDS!

What do you think? Tell me below, and I’ll see you in Emmerdale tomorrow!

What the Hell is Happening in Emmerdale (Theory Time!)

Get a treat and some tea folks, this one is long. I have been reading through different people’s opinions on what might be coming, running around after ‘spoilers’ left on the DS forums and using my general gut instincts.

What the hell is happening in Emmerdale? Here is what I came up with or Amanda Comes Up With More Theories to Add to the List! What the Hell is Happening in Emmerdale is shorter though.

Dropped Storylines

Charity and Frank

Last we saw them they had made out/possibly slept together and then everyone went on vacation for a few months. In fact, there is a Metro article implying that Frank is playing Charity, but then the two of them seemed to disappear and so did the interest in the couple. This was back in February.

Moira and Pete

They managed to kiss and sleep together and not reveal it till much later on in the week it happened. Then nothing came of it. Not yet at least. That was back in December.

Rushed Storylines

Robert and Aaron

We all know the story here, but since their engagement, they have been on a roller coaster ride.  Dealing with more issues than Vouge the two are always challenged and pushed forward too quickly.  I know they had to move things forward because of Lucy’s pregnancy and Isabel needing to leave for exams, but they could have easily held off and given the pair mini stories (even comedic stories) until Liv or Chas returned. Instead, we got a lot of rushing, drama, and sadness instead.

Victoria and Adam

This is still fresh. Everyone knows how I feel about this but yeah. Their marriage broke up within a two-day span. Just so Adam can pull a Ross and declare they were on a break when it all comes out that he cheats on Victoria next week. Sigh. Double sigh. That’s all we need to know about that.

Story threads Left Open

Emma seems to have gotten away with what she has done. Kind of. She hasn’t managed to get away from it in her mind.  In fact, she has turned to religion which is fine. However, as quite a few people have predicted, she is starting to grow a complex. She thinks she is about everything and is quoting bible verses all over the place.  She is cracking even further, and that might have consequences for not just herself and her family but the whole town.

Cain and Harriet

Their storyline with stolen phones, making money for the family, hiding it in the church and sleeping together are so general and random I assume they are just setting them up a big summer story. Not that I don’t enjoy seeing Harriet have some fun. She has had a rough year so far. Let her ride the Cain pony. Horse. Oh god, I can’t believe I wrote any of that.

Vadam friendship with Rebecca

What the hell is that about? Out of nowhere, Rebecca is friends with both Victoria and Adam. It was clunky, plot plop and just confuses me.  It is an open thread that could go anywhere. Rebecca is an open thread that can go anywhere. So….

Rebecca’s exist is an open plot thread. She has butted in on everything Robert and Aaron since she appeared. She isn’t connected to her family (where was she for Lachlan and his day to come home from prison?), and she seems to be attaching herself to random people at random times. Dropping random plot points like a little plot plopper.  Everything she says and her existence is suspect.

What does this all mean for the Summer aka Theory Time!

This won’t be as stunt driven, but it will be equally as quirky and interesting and probably non-linear.” – Iain MacLeod

That quote above (thanks to @mygodthefeels for finding the article for me!) is from a Radio Times article with Iain Macleod outlining what might happen this year.  Some of it has come true, and some haven’t but this line stood out to me.

Non-linear storytelling. What if all of these dropped, rushed and hanging story threads all lead up to one big event. Everything isn’t as we know it to be and we all have to sit back and wait for the pieces to come together in big summer event? I mean, it makes sense. We have had so many random events happen (except for Tracy’s storyline. She is the only one that is intended to be filler) they have to be connected in some way?

Here is Theory #1: This is All in Emma’s Head

We all know Emma is cracked. We love her but she not doing well mentally. She is starting to throw herself into religion which might give her a god complex. Just makes her mental break worse. She is thinking things are happening what aren’t happening. She is putting people together that wouldn’t be together. Her mindset is messing with what is truly going on in the town.

This theory falls under the ‘Dallas’ clause. Dallas used the ‘It was Just a Dream, ’ and it screwed up a lot of character development, and the spin-off shows stories.  Emma having a mental break and changing storylines could affect character development and what is happening in their lives. It would be hard to do without screwing up quite a few events (Ashley’s death and Rhona’s marriage to a monster come to mind).

Theory #2: We Don’t Know the Half of It!

As I wrote earlier, we aren’t getting the whole story as an audience. We are being told the story by an unreliable narrator.  Events that we should be seeing are happening off screen, character motivations are all over the place, and all the little plot threads and holes are there for them to fill out this summer in ‘SHOCKING TWISTS!’.

I mean, I wouldn’t mind this happening, but that is a lot of work for one big reveal in the Summer or even the Fall. Then again, the reveal could affect the future of the show for years to come. I would be impressed if this is what happened, that takes a lot of planning and hoping the audience sticks around to see the final result.

Theory #3: Things are as they Seem

Say this ‘non-linear storytelling’ MacLeod was talking about might be for something else altogether. What if they just screwed up the first half of the year and now they have to fix things in the summer to set the course right for Fall and the Winter stories? This could be happening, and we all need to guard ourselves for this possible outcome. They just screwed up royally. I don’t want to believe it, but it’s not bad to have in the back of your head.

Until everything that has been building explodes, I will hold onto so many theories. There are so many ways things can go, and I want to have hope that Emmerdale writers will surprise us at every turn. It has been a rough winter and spring for these characters, maybe the summer will reveal some of that pressure and give us some answers.

If you made it this far thanks for reading! What do you think?

Emmerdale Title Card

Emmerdale Live and Organized – April 21, 2017

Warning: This is me just venting. Sorry in advance if I annoy anyone.

The show itself commented this story went from 0-60 in a matter of three days. They are setting up how tortured Adam is and how pushy Victoria is being. Yeah. A lot of this doesn’t sit well with me.

Why is Victoria so pushy on having a child at this moment? Why is Adam so anti-adoption and sperm donor? When both families are highly aware of how important and fulfilling adoption can be.  It is just odd.  Again, this is moving so fast. It is framing Adam as someone who we have to pity. I pity both was freaking out so quickly.  It doesn’t make sense to me.

I enjoyed the Moira and Diane scenes. The only sane ones in the group. Of course, they weren’t heard, but here we are.

I have a lot to say about that final scene in the episode down in the ‘It’s Just Speculation!’ section. Please go down there for more analysis of that breakup scene.

How is it that Paddy is so anti-Robert (who is an idiot at times but not purposely evil) but can’t see Pierce for what he is? I mean it comes down to experience. Robert did try to kill Paddy. However, since then things have changed. Pierce walks around like such a villain he should have a song that plays. Like Darth Vader. This storyline is just barreling towards a terrible finish if the papers were right. My heart is aching for Rhona. She is blinded and stuck. I hope she figures it out soon.

Leyla is queen. All hail Leyla.

Chrissie is throwing money at Lachlan because that is all she knows. I assume that is how mistakes were always fixed in the White House. That is all Chrissie knows. I hope she is learning a big lesson with her son, who is beyond that type of help.

Oh, yeah. Leyla is Queen. All hail Leyla.

It’s Just Speculation!

Alright, everyone! Did anyone else see that last Vadam scene? See how Adam was like, I need to leave you to make you happy? YEAH. That is what I was expecting for Robert and Aaron. So, I know the scene would work, and it would be heartbreaking. HOWEVER, now that it has been done with Vadam, it won’t be done again with Robron.

So, I now officially have no idea how we transition from this crazy storyline to a new storyline without that type of fallout. I can’t understand.

Oh, what about the random friendship between Rebecca and Vadam. What was the point of that? What was the point of Victoria holding onto the pregnancy test with someone else’s urine? Are these all red herrings because the show itself didn’t know where it was going? It was leaving clues that could pick up on later on just in case something goes wrong?

Discuss among yourselves.  Hope you enjoyed my overemotional odd review of Friday’s episode. Is the Tracy book/writing story really our only comedic storyline happening right now? REALLY?!?!
