Do Critics Matter?

the-critic

Welcome back to the randomness my friends! This week, as I watch YouTube (shocker), I surfed the internet. People still call it that right? Anyway, I noticed that everywhere I looked I saw someone giving a review about something. Video games, movies, books and makeup products. I even do it on here. I enjoy talking about television shows and anything else occupying my universe. I’m not alone…obviously.  That is when it hit me. The internet is full of critics. Some have more sway than others, but the internet is full of people who think they know better.

Does any of this matter? Do critics matter?

I look up numerous reviews when I am looking into a product. Whether it is coffee makers, makeup sets or a new phone I like to do my due diligence.

However, when I look up information on a television show, I could care less about their opinion.

You get what I did there?

I COULD care LESS. Meaning I care a little bit what these people think. Not enough to not see a show or watch a movie but I let online critics pepper my expectations.

I cannot tell you how many times I didn’t look at a show because someone I trusted on the internet said it wasn’t worth checking out.

I have learned, over the years, that you need to jump in and decide for yourself. Sometimes life can surprise you, and you get a new favorite show or a new favorite author. You just have to stop listening to every little voice out there on the internet.

What do you think? Do you think critics matter? Does it depend on what the person is critiquing or do you just ignore people online? Tell me below or tell me on my twitter (@AmandaJ718)!

Until next time, the randomness has ended. I hope you enjoyed.
